Winners will be selected at the end of three phases:
All information submitted by each applicant will be reviewed according to the assessment criteria laid down by the organisers of the awards. The organisers may request additional documents from any applicant for the purpose of verifying information that was submitted. All shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a questionnaire designed to collect detailed information on green policies and practices of the candidates. The award organisers will then select eligible candidates for a detailed assessment in Phase 2.

Organisations selected for a detailed assessment will be visited by a team of assessors. This visit will include a tour of the candidate’s facilities and an interview with various members of the organisation (including top management, department heads and general staff). The candidates should arrange the necessary permits, if any, for assessors’ visit. During this visit, candidates may make a presentation to the assessors concerning their environmental performance. The purpose of the visit is to enable the assessors to acquire an in-depth understanding of the candidate’s environmental initiatives and to gauge the extent to which the candidate’s environmental measures are being implemented.

Candidates shortlisted for Phase 2 assessment will receive a complimentary assessment report on their environmental performance. The report will outline the organisation’s strengths and weaknesses and highlight areas where improvements in environmental management could be made. The assessment reports will be submitted to the adjudicating panel for final adjudication.

During the final judging phase, the adjudicating panel may invite candidates to further present their achievements in a meeting and/or may visit the candidates’ facilities. The candidates should arrange the necessary permits, if any, for the adjudicating panel if site visits are required. The adjudicating panel will comprise representatives from various trade associations, renowned organisations, government departments and professional bodies. A maximum of four awards, including one Grand Award and three Gold Awards, will be bestowed for each of the award categories. Furthermore, Certificates of Merit will be awarded to those organisations that have performed well in their environmental management.

The results will be formally announced at the Awards Presentation Ceremony in November 2007 (tentative).
